Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Luang Prabang
Your journey begins in Luang Prabang, the spiritual capital of Laos. Late this afternoon climb the 328 steps to the top of Mount Phousi to enjoy panoramic views as the sun sets. Stop off at the hilltribe market on the way back to your hotel.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 2 Luang Prabang & Pak Ou Caves
Start this morning with a visit to Laos' most picturesque temple, Wat Xieng Thong. Next board a beautiful wooden river boat for a cruise up the Mekong to the Pak Ou Caves. Here you will see thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues crammed into two caves carved out of a towering limestone cliff. The statues range in size from a few centimetres tall to the size of a human. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to Luang Prabang.
Day 4 Vientiane - Hanoi
An early start to Buddha Park on the Thai-Laos border. This unusual park is filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. On your return to Vientiane, visit COPE, an association working to help landmine victims to rebuild their lives. You will then transfer to the airport for a flight to Hanoi. Your afternoon is at leisure in Hanoi - the charming capital of Vietnam.
Overnight in Hanoi (B).
Day 6 Hanoi - Hoi An
A morning flight to Danang. On arrival drive to Hoi An: a destination with two faces – the charming, old-world trading port of narrow streets and traditional houses, and the beach with its new resorts and long stretch of clean white sand. Take a walking tour of the ancient town centre. The rest of your day is at lesiure.
Overnight in Hoi An (B)
Day 10 Mekong Delta Experience
This morning, journey to the delta town of Cai Be. On arrival board your boat for a cruise of Cai Be floating market. Traders work the river; some have been living on these waters for generations. Watch local life take place around you as you glide along the river. Lunch will be local Mekong style serving specialties of the area. Following your cruise drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City(B).
Day 11 Ho Chi Minh City - Siem Reap
Located in suburban Ho Chi Minh City, this is not just a cooking class but a genuine insight into a Vietnamese kitchen. Start early to a local market with your host, to shop for ingredients. Then head back to the house to start your cooking, where you’ll eventually devour the results for lunch! After lunch transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap. The rest of your day is free until a delicious Khmer welcome dinner at The Sugar Palm.
Overnight in Siem Reap (B,L,D)
Day 13 Temples & Surrounds
Continue your touring with a visit to Banteay Srei, the “Citadel of the Women” and Kbal Spean, one of the earliest Hindu pilgrimage sites in Cambodia. End your day at the awesome Angkor Wat. You will be there during sunset time, when Angkor Wat is less visited and the Apsaras will shine in the most beautiful light.
Overnight in Siem Reap(B).
