Itinerary

Depart the UK for your flight to Melbourne. We recommend you take the opportunity to break the journey in one of several stopover destinations on offer in the Middle East, Asia or North America.

You will be transferred to your downtown hotel by private car and the remainder of the day is free for you to explore Melbourne. Wander along the banks of the Yarra River taking in the impressive cityscape of towering skyscrapers. Explore the ever-changing attractions at Federation Square where modern architecture contrasts with Victorian. Melbourne is a truly multi-cultural city which is evident in its diverse culinary choices.
Hotel – Crown Metropol

Head out of the city centre and explore Melbourne’s trendy and vibrant neighbourhoods. Hop on a tram and visit suburbs such as Fitzroy, a lively bohemian neighbourhood with a thriving art scene, or Richmond with its historic streets and Vietnamese restaurants. Shabby chic St Kilda has long been a favourite place to visit for its dining and nightlife plus an array of wonderful cake shops in Acland Street.
Hotel – Crown Metropol

Cross West Gate Bridge to Torquay, the start of the Great Ocean Road. The 44km Surf Coast Walk can be accessed here, a spectacular trail offering inspiring landscapes and abundant wildlife. Hike or drive to Bells Beach, recognised as one of the world’s premier surfing beaches. Stop at the scenic Erskine Falls, then continue to Apollo Bay along what is claimed to be one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives.

Depart Apollo Bay and continue west along the Great Ocean Road, past the Great Otway National Park. See the incredible Twelve Apostles rock formations formed by years of erosion off the shore of Port Campbell, where eight of the towering limestone stacks remain today. There are several view points along the route including Razorback and Loch Ard Gorge. Continue past Port Campbell along the ‘Shipwreck Coast’ to Port Fairy.

There is a choice of routes today, either a shorter coastal route via Portland and Cape Nelson, or a longer day travelling inland via the Grampians National Park. The Grampians are a range of sandstone mountains offering breath-taking views, walking trails, waterfalls, Aboriginal rock art and abundant wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas. Visit between August and October to witness the spectacular display of colourful spring wildflowers.
Hotel – The Barn

Mt Gambier is known for its limestone and volcanic landscapes, and Blue Lake; an awe-inspiring scenic crater lake. Travel along the coastal wilderness of Coroong National Park, a protected area of saltwater lagoons. The area is a haven for seabirds and can be explored on foot or by canoe. If the Murray River Ferry is operating at Wellington East, cut across the top of Lake Alexandria to Victor Harbor, alternatively drive via Murray Bridge.
Hotel – McCracken Country Club

From Victor Harbor, cross the southern region of South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis where you will take a ferry to the eastern reaches of Kangaroo Island at Penneshaw. Conservation areas and National Parks cover over a third of the island and is a sanctuary to native wildlife like koala and brushtail possum.
