Our 10-night Sydney, Rock and Reef holiday takes you to some of Australia’s most popular attractions. Start your Australia holiday in the beautiful and cosmopolitan city of Sydney.
Here you will have plenty of time to explore the city’s trendy neighbourhoods, museums, galleries and attractions at your own pace. To help you orientate yourself we have included a Sydney Harbour lunch cruise plus Bondi Beach and city highlights tour.
Next stop is the ‘Rock’ part of your adventure. Fly to Ayers Rock Resort where you will spend a full day exploring the fascinating rock formations of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and Uluru (Ayers Rock), ending with a barbeque sunset dinner.
Then it’s on to the ‘Reef’, staying in Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland, where you will take a full day cruise out to the Outer Barrier Reef where you can swim and snorkel with tropical fish, stingrays and turtles among one of the world’s most magnificent reef systems.
You will be transferred from Sydney Airport to your hotel, the remainder of the day is free for you to explore this spectacular harbour city. Wander along the waterfront and through the impressive botanical gardens to the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay, or explore the vibrant neighbourhood of Potts Points.
Enjoy a leisurely morning before embarking on a Captain Cook Sydney Harbour Cruise including a buffet lunch. Sail past the Sydney Opera House and the palatial waterfront mansions of the exclusive Eastern suburbs while cruising around one of the world’s most beautiful harbours. This afternoon you join a tour taking you through the historic Rocks district, the Gap for harbour and city views and Bondi Beach.
A full day free for you to explore more of Sydney’s attractions. The city has a comprehensive public transport system making it an easy city to explore at your own pace. Take a local ferry over to the north shore and spend the day at Manly Beach, or head further north to Palm Beach which is the back drop of soap opera ‘Home & Away’.
Hotel – Ovolo Woolloomooloo
You may wish to take an optional tour or hop on a train out west to the Blue Mountains. Katoomba is an attractive mountain town and the jumping-off point to visit the attractions of this area, including Echo Point where you can take in the breathtaking vistas over the valley and the Three Sisters Rock Formations. Alternatively take a ferry to Watsons Bay for a meal at the waterfront Doyle’s Restaurant.
Transfer to Sydney Airport for your flight to Ayers Rock Resort, where on arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the resort facilities before joining your Kata Tjuta (Olgas) Sunset tour. Sip a glass of chilled sparkling wine while you witness the colours change over the rock formations and desert landscape as the sun sets below the horizon.
Enjoy a full day adventure which commences with a walk in to Walpa Gorge at Kata Tjuta, a remarkable formation of 36 rock domes that covers an area of over eight square miles. Learn more about the local Pitjantjatjara people at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre before continuing to Uluru for a guided Mala Walk and to Mutitjulu Waterhole at the base of the rock. Enjoy a barbeque dinner while witnessing the sunset over Uluru.
Transfer to Ayers Rock Airport for your flight to Cairns in tropical North Queensland. On arrival in Cairns you will be transferred by private car along the Captain Cook Highway to your hotel in Port Douglas. This attractive tropical resort is the gateway for cruises to the Low Isles and Outer Barrier Reef as well as Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation.
Depart Port Douglas this morning for a full day Great Barrier Reef Cruise. You will sail on a modern vessel which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. During your day, you will be served morning and afternoon tea plus lunch. You will visit three separate sites on the Agincourt Reef where you will swim and snorkel amongst the mesmerising reef formations and with tropical fish, stingrays and turtles.
A full day free for you to enjoy this upmarket resort, visit the variety of boutiques on Macrossan Street or enjoy a cold beer at Reef Marina. Take a stroll along the famous Four Mile Beach or for the very best views of the tropical north and Four Mile Beach, head up to Flagstaff Hill.
