Itinerary

Day 1  UK - Colombo
Fly from the UK to Colombo.
Day 2  Colombo – Negombo
Upon arrival, transfer from the airport to Negombo, where you will check-in to Heritance Negombo. Accommodation: Heritance Negombo - Deluxe Double room on BB
Day 3  Negombo – Habarana
Today you will transfer by road to Habarana, and check into Cinnamon Lodge for a three-night stay. Habarana is located in the centre of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle. Visit the Millennium Elephant Foundation to walk with these gentle giants. Accommodation: Cinnamon Lodge - Superior Double room on HB
Day 4  Polonnaruwa
After breakfast, visit Polonnaruwa, famous for its archaeological gems. Visit the ruins of the Royal Palace before marvelling at the magnificent Buddha statues of Gal Vihara, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath and the statue of King Parakramabahu. This afternoon visit Minneriya National Park and embark on a Jeep safari. Accommodation: Cinnamon Lodge - Superior Double room on HB
Day 5  Sigiriya
Today you will visit one of the most iconic Sri Lankan sights – Sigiriya. The 'Lion Rock' is a citadel of unusual beauty, rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens, including the renowned water gardens, ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya. Day 6  Millennium Elephant Foundation - Peradeniya Botanical Gardens
Head to Dambulla to visit the spectacular cave temple complex. There are five separate caves, each filled with beautiful statues and artworks; some of the country’s most important and cherished religious art can be found here. You will also have the opportunity to tour a traditional spice garden in Matale, where you will learn more about the amazing array of spices that are grown here and enjoyed around the world. Day 7  Kandy
Journey to Kandy to explore the splendid city. Drive around the Kandy Lake, before visiting a lively bazaar, with an option to visit the arts and crafts centre. This evening visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth relic and attend a cultural Sri Lankan dance show. Accommodation: Cinnamon Citadel - Superior Double room on HB
Day 8  Kandy - Hatton
Head off on one of the world’s most scenic train journeys as you travel from Kandy up to Hatton, in the heart of Sri Lanka’s vibrant tea country. Enjoy breathtaking views as you pass through the jungle and along steep mountain tracks. Discover more about the production of Ceylon tea on a factory visit, where you will also be able to pick up some tea souvenirs! Accommodation: Mandira Bungalow - Deluxe Double Room on BB
Day 9  Hatton – Yala
Continue your Sri Lanka adventure and head on to the famous Yala National Park. Surrounded by mountain ranges, the terrain of the park is a mixture of grassland, shrub jungle and wild teak plantations. The park is renowned for its large herd of elephants, several species of deer, wild boar and the fearsome wild buffalo. Lucky visitors may glimpse an elusive leopard. Day 10  Yala
Experience a morning and evening safari today. This is one of the best places in the world to have a chance of spotting a leopard. Other animals you may see include sloth bears, water buffalo and over 200 species of bird. Accommodation: Cinnamon Wild - Jungle Chalet Double Room on FB

Day 11  Galle Fort
Your final stop on this Sri Lanka adventure will be the unforgettable Galle Fort. Accompanied by a resident expert, you will explore the colonial architecture and local history at this UNESCO World Heritage site. Wander past cafés, fascinating boutiques and stylish hotels, and enjoy amazing ocean views from the fort’s walls.
Day 12  Return home
Today travel back to the airport for your departure flight.
