Our spectacular Canadian Rockies, Luxury Trains & Grizzly Bears showcases the very best of what Alberta and British Columbia has to offer. This independent tour uses the services of scheduled coaches and sightseeing tours from Calgary to Jasper, stopping to view Bow Falls, ride the Banff Gondola, travel along the scenic Icefields Parkway taking in Lake Louise, Bow and Peyto Lakes. Ride the Ice Explorer on the Athabasca Glacier and walk along the glass bottomed Glacier Skywalk over the valley and rushing waterfalls.

Board the famous Rocky Mountaineer for a two day rail adventure through mountains, canyons, tunnels and forests, while enjoying the luxuries of onboard the Gold Leaf Service, with glass domed rail carriages and Gold Leaf Service Dining Car. Explore Vancouver and take in the spectacular scenery along the Sea to Sky Highway with a stop at Shannon Falls on your transfer to Whistler. Wander around the pedestrianised village of Whistler and ride the Peak2Peak Gondola.

Tweedsmuir Park Lodge will be a highlight of this tour, with three nights at this charming lodge set on the edge of the Great Bear Rainforest, where grizzly bears can be seen roaming on the lodge's lawn and catching salmon in the rivers that run along the lodges border. Take float trips along the Atnarko River or simply spend time at one of the two bear viewing platforms and watch these incredible animals in their natural habitat.

Itinerary

Day 1  Thursday - Travel to Calgary
Fly from the UK to Calgary, on arrival take a private transfer to your downtown hotel, the evening is free for you to explore the city.
Day 2  Friday - Banff
Today you will travel by scheduled sightseeing coach from Calgary to Banff through the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. You will visit highlights that include Bow Falls and the Hoodoo Rock Formations as well as take a ride up Sulphur Mountain on the Banff Gondola. From the summit you will enjoy 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and valley. On your return from the mountain top to Banff you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 3  Saturday - Jasper
Your scheduled sightseeing coach tour takes you along one of North America's most scenic highways - the Icefields Parkway. There are plenty of stops for photo opportunities along the way including Lake Louise, Bow and Peyto Lakes. You will visit the Columbia Icefield and join a ride on the especially adapted Ice Explorer that travels across the Athasbasca Glacier. Take a walk along the award-winning Glacier Skywalk, a glass-floored observation platform over the glacier valley.
Day 4  Sunday - Rocky Mountaineer To Kamloops
Board Rocky Mountaineer for the first part of your scenic rail journey through the Canadian Rockies. Travel in comfort Gold Leaf Service which includes beverages and table service meals in the exclusive Dining Car. The journey follows the Yellowhead route past Mount Robson which is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Follow the majestic Thompson River through spectacular scenery viewed through the glass domed roof of the Gold Service Carriages. Overnight in a 3-star hotel in Kamloops.
Day 5  Monday - Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver
Join the Rocky Mountaineer for the second part of your rail journey. Continue along the Thompson River and pass through Rainbow Canyon with its pink, green and grey striped cliffs. Travel through Fraser Canyon where you must look out for Hell's Gate where you can see water torrent past the canyons walls at its narrowest point. Your journey ends after passing through fertile farmland and forests of the Fraser Valley before arriving at Rocky Mountaineer's own station in Vancouver.
Day 6  Tuesday - Vancouver City Tour
This morning start your tour at Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal, explore the city including Robson Street famous for its shopping and then on to the 1000 acre Stanley Park and totem poles. The tour also visits Prospect Point and English Bay beaches, Granville Island famous for its markets and local produce and then on to Chinatown. Explore Vancouver's most historic neighbourhood, Gastown and visit Vancouver's Lookout Tower. The afternoon is left free for you to explore the city further.
Day 9  Friday - Tweedsmuir Park Lodge
Take a 90 minute flight from Vancouver to Bella Coola where you will be collected and transferred to Tweedsmuir Park Lodge where you will spend the next three nights. Your grizzly bear package includes guided bear tracking walks and river float tours each day, in search of grizzly bears in their natural habitat. Within 3 hours of leaving Vancouver, you could be on the river watching bears catching salmon.
Day 10  Saturday - Tweedsmuir Park Lodge
A full day is spent at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, offering you many opportunities to search for grizzly bears, you may be lucky enough to see bears roaming across the expansive lawns of the lodge, or head down to one of the two bear viewing platforms that look out over the Atnarko River. Included in your package are river drifts bear watching tours and guided nature walks and bear tracking tours. If you wish to explore the area further there are mountain bikes available for your use.
Day 11  Sunday - Tweedsmuir Park Lodge
A final day for you to search for grizzly bears, they are most active in the morning so we recommend you head down to one of the bear viewing platforms before breakfast to try and catch site of them by the river catching salmon. Further bear watching tours are available or make use of the spa at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge.
Day 12  Monday - Travel Home
One last opportunity to head down to the bear viewing platforms for some more photographic opportunities of grizzly bears in their natural habitat. You will be transferred to Bella Coola for your 90 minute flight to Vancouver in time for your flight back to the UK.
