Oregon offers diverse landscapes from towering mountains to rugged coastlines, underground caverns and raging rivers. Its quirky capital Portland has an incredible array of galleries and unique eateries and great value duty free shopping. After discovering some of Portland's delights, head out on the road to the rugged Pacific coastline, taking time to stop off and picking up some wine from one of the many vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Explore Oregon's beautiful coastline along the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, stopping in quaint fishing villages and at various scenic viewpoints where you can breathe in the fresh sea air and take in the outstanding natural beauty that surrounds you. Travelling inland there are numerous outdoor activities on offer including white water rafting on Rouge River, boating on Upper Klamath Lake and horseback riding. Circumnavigate Crater Lake on the Rim Drive at Crater Lake National Park which offers views of the park's volcanic landscapes. Bend in Central Oregon is popular with those outdoor pursuits enthusiasts and include activities such as kayaking, biking, hiking and white-water rafting on the The Lower Deschurtes.

Day 2  Portland
Portland, Oregon
'Keep Portland Weird' is the city's famous slogan and it rings true in Portland. The city has some beautiful green spaces including the Washington Park which includes the Japanese Garden and Rose Test Garden. Discover the art of the city at the Portland Art Museum, spread over six floors. Pittock Mansion is a great place to take a wander around the mansion and gardens, it was the once home of the Portland pioneers. Day 3  Portland - Gleneden Beach (100 miles)
Gleneden Beach, Oregon
Depart Portland and drive towards the Pacific Coast taking time to explore Oregon's Wine Country, visiting vineyards along the way or stopping at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville. Continue on to Gleneden Beach and stay at Salishan Spa & Golf Resort from where you can discover the beach towns of Lincoln City and Newport. The latter has remained a fishing village and has plenty of shops and restaurants.
Day 4  Oregon's Coast

Enjoy a day exploring the surrounding area and coastline or the many facilities and activities at the Salishan Spa & Golf Resort. Take a day to explore further north and visit the stunning Cascade Head Scenic Research Area where there are several hiking trails and a spectacular coastal headland attracting wildlife and home to rare wildflowers and the Oregon silverspot butterfly.
Day 5  Gleneden Beach to Florence (68 miles)

You may wish to explore further south down the coast, situated an hour from the Salishan Resort, the town of Florence. On the drive down, stop at Cape Perpetua, a natural landmark of forests, pools and shells, the Heceta Head Lighthouse and Sea Lion Caves, to see these mammals. Day 6  Oregon's Coast

Enjoy a wonderful day discovering the natural beauty of Florence and this region of Oregon's coast. Hike to the historic Heceta Head Lighthuse, spot migrating whales cavorting just off the shoreline or descend by elevator into North America's largest sea cave, home to sea lions. Day 7  Oregon's Coast - Grants Pass (175 miles)

After the morning on the coast, head inland to Grants Pass making your way further south.

Travel across country to Klamath Falls and Klamath Upper Lake , the gateway to the stunning Crater Lake National Park. Day 11  Klamath Falls - Bend (130 miles)
Bend, Oregon
Drive north and spend the day discovering the natural beauty Crater Lake National Park where there are 20 scenic viewpoints . Explore Wizard Island and the Phantom Ship, but be sure to book all excursions well in advance as activities sell-out in this park. Continue north to Bend in Central Oregon, here you can enjoy further outdoor pursuits; hike in Smith Rock and go white water rafting in The Lower Deschutes.
Day 12  Bend
Bend, Oregon
You may wish to laze by the pool at Sunriver Resort, play tennis, go horseback riding or spend time on Deschutes River in a canoe, kayak or on a paddleboard. For the more energetic we recommend the hike to Tumalo Falls, a 4.1 mile round trip hike. The area has a fantastic network of mountain bike trails as well as 18 breweries, four wineries and three cideries.

Day 13  Bend - Portland (180 miles)
Portland, Oregon
Whilst here, you might wish to drive the 82 mile loop road known as the Mckenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway which offers view of the Cascade Mountains. Travel back to Portland today for your flight home to the UK or stay a couple of nights exploring this quirky city further.
