Today arrive at the Cayo District, Belize’s adventure capital. Here you’ll find some of the country’s most rugged landscapes, with plenty of opportunities for intrepid explorers to embark on adventures. Ancient cave systems, Maya ruins and dense jungle are the orders of the day here, along with great wildlife spotting and plenty of adventure activities – from zip lining and tubing to hiking and horseback riding. Accommodation: Black Rock Lodge
Today, bound for the Barton Creek Cave system, you’ll pass an array of natural wonders. Journey through the Mountain Pine Ridge region, before passing a traditional Mennonite community. At the caves, canoe through the winding waterways, noting the incredible geological formations as you go. You’ll be led by an expert guide who will tell you more about this historically significant area. Accommodation: Black Rock Lodge
You have a day at leisure to explore the lodge and its surrounds as you wish. Adventurous guests may opt for a tubing or biking adventure. For history and culture buffs, we recommend heading out to Caracol to discover more Maya ruins deep in the jungle. Accommodation: Black Rock Lodge
Cayo District – Ambergris Caye
Drive to San Ignacio Airport for your flight with Tropic Air to Ambergris Caye (flight duration: approximately one hour). Belize’s largest island is fringed by white sand beaches, with the world’s second largest barrier reef just offshore. San Pedro is the island’s only town, with plenty of restaurants and bars to visit. Accommodation: Portofino Beach Resort
Today is free for you to explore Ambergris Caye. For those wanting to explore San Pedro’s lively atmosphere either transfer by road or boat. Should you wish to explore some of Belize’s rich marine life, we recommend taking a snorkel excursion to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. For those looking to relax, Portofino Beach Resort is an ideal location in a quiet, secluded part of the island. Accommodation: Portofino Beach Resort
A half-day snorkelling trip today takes you to Mexico Rocks. Here you’ll see incredible underwater wildlife and coral; angelfish, stingrays, nurse sharks and flounder are just some of the species you might spot. Ideal for novice and advanced snorkelers alike, the water around the rocks is shallow and relatively calm. Accommodation: Portofino Beach Resort
