      Dive into Lima’s centre and discover its historic charm. Visit the Government Palace, the magnificent cathedral and City Hall, among other sights. Bursting with culture, Lima’s centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is home to the beautiful Santo Domingo church and convent.         Transfer by air to the highlands city of Cuzco, before travelling to the Sacred Valley.             Transfer by train to Aguas Calientes, from where you will embark on your visit to Machu Picchu. The colossal citadel is an incredible sight, and one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world. Originally abandoned by the Incas, the fortress was re-discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, an explorer from America. After an initial exploration of the site, travel back to Aguas Calientes and spend a relaxing evening at the charming El Mapi Hotel by Inkaterra.

              Your morning is yours to spend as you wish – why not revisit Machu Picchu and explore some more? (entrance not included) This is truly one of the most photogenic areas in Latin America – take your camera and climb up to the Sun Gate for an even better view. Resume your journey by road to Cuzco.                   Journey across the Andes to Puno, a town picturesquely set on the banks of Lake Titicaca.                     Today you will be journeying across the border into Bolivia. Visit the charming towns of Pomata and Juli, before stopping at Copacabana, which boasts a white cathedral and, of course, a beach! From Copacabana, transfer via hydrofoil to Moon Island, before visiting the Sun Island. Make your way to the Posada del Inca Eco Lodge.                       After breakfast at the lodge, visit the grand Inca Staircase and the Sacred Fountain; locals believe that the waters from the fountain can provide eternal happiness and youth. Take lunch at the Uma Kollu restaurant, and then hydrofoil back to the mainland of Bolivia to journey to La Paz.                         Travel via short flight to Uyuni. This is the biggest salt flat in the world, and truly will take your breath away – not only is it visually stunning, but it’s located in the thin air of the Bolivian highlands. The salt flats stretch out as far as the eye can see, and the combination of this white landscape with the bright blue skies make for an incredibly photogenic setting.                           Travel approximately three hours to Potosi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and formerly the world’s biggest industrial complex. Explore the charming narrow lanes, and discover the Royal Mint and admire the Santa Teresa convent. Overnight at the Hotel Museo Cayara, which is roughly half an hour from the main city.

                            In the morning discover the Cerro Rico mines, where you will learn about the incredibly harsh working conditions. The mines are at an altitude of 4,200 metres and suffers from wildly fluctuating underground temperatures, which can range from 45 degrees to below freezing. This part of the tour isn’t recommended for the claustrophobic, but offers a real taste of the working conditions at the mines. Then transfer to the city of Sucre, which is full of colonial architecture. Accommodation Options

                              Sucre’s mild climate makes for a pleasant day of exploration. Spend the morning discovering San Delipe Neri and la Recoleta churches, and visit Liberty House, where Bolivian independence was claimed. Then visit the Ethnic Textile Museum for an insight into the local culture. The rest of the day is yours to explore the city at leisure.

                                Transfer by plane back to La Paz, and return to the La Casona hotel. In the afternoon enjoy a private tour of the city’s indigenous, modern and colonial areas - the Witches Market is a sure highlight. Take in the mesmerising sight of majestic Mount Illamani which looks down over the city. Towards the more upmarket parts of the city, find the Valley of the Moon, a mystical structure said to resemble the face of the moon. Accommodation Options
